The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has destroyed multiple terrorist strongholds in separate precision air strikes conducted on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
The air offensives targeted terrorist enclaves at Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns area and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains, both known hideouts for insurgent elements operating in the North-East region.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the strikes were executed following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
The air assets successfully destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly areas concealed within the two enclaves. Several terrorists were neutralised in the raids, and planned attacks were disrupted, the statement added.
Speaking on the operations, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to sustaining coordinated joint operations with sister Services and allied partners.
“We will continue to eliminate terrorism and restore peace across the country,” Air Marshal Aneke was quoted as saying.
The CAS stressed that intelligence-driven air operations would persist in identifying and destroying terrorist hideouts, logistics networks, and operational bases wherever they exist.
The latest strikes form part of an ongoing intensified air offensive against terrorist elements in the North-East, as security forces ramp up efforts to clear remaining insurgent pockets from the region.
