— Agency assures public as NCDC confirms no case in Nigeria yet
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has activated enhanced screening and isolation protocols across all international airports in response to the recent Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) situation in parts of Central Africa.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, FAAN assured the travelling public and stakeholders that robust preventive measures are now in full operation to prevent any potential importation of the virus into the country.
Working in close collaboration with Port Health Services, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and other relevant agencies, FAAN has intensified passenger surveillance—particularly for travellers arriving from high-risk regions.
Under the new protocols, passengers are being systematically screened for Ebola-related symptoms. Any suspected case will be promptly isolated and subjected to secondary health checks in line with established national and international health guidelines.
FAAN further stated that it has strengthened coordination with stakeholders, enhanced staff sensitization, and reinforced emergency response procedures to ensure swift action where necessary.
“The safety of passengers and airport personnel remains our top priority,” FAAN noted, while urging the public to remain calm, comply with all health screening procedures, and report any symptoms to health officials.
Currently, there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Nigeria. However, FAAN has maintained that it remains fully vigilant and committed to safeguarding public health while ensuring safe airport operations across the country.
