A woman and her child were killed on Sunday evening in a ghastly motor accident along the Jos–Bauchi road involving an Opel Vectra car and an 18-seater commercial bus.
The crash occurred near Dungal Housing estate when the two vehicles collided. Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the woman and her child dead on the spot, while the driver of the vectra and other passengers sustained injuries.
Residents and passersby rushed to the scene to assist the victims, who were later evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were also taken.
The incident threw the area into mourning, with many sympathizers lamenting the rising cases of fatal accidents along the Jos–Bauchi highway.
