Obi Aguocha, the Labour Party House of Representatives member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency (Abia State), has expressed confidence that the party’s ongoing internal divisions will be amicably settled before the 2027 general elections.
The Peter Obi ally made these remarks Monday during an interview on Arise News Prime Time, monitored by Spear News.
His comments followed queries about the recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting organized by the Julius Abure-led faction, which saw the attendance of the party’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, Senator Ahmed Baba Datti.
Aguocha emphasized the party’s unity despite its current factions:
“There are two factions of Labour Party as at today. He (Datti) is entitled to attend any meeting.”
“Any member of Labour Party is at will to attend any meeting of any faction.”
Reaffirming his optimism, he added: “But what I am still hoping is that at the end of the day, Labour Party will still come together as one family, resolving their issues, being that formidable platform that it was in 2023 to be in 2027 to move forward.”
