…Declares even APC leaders will face consequences if found wanting

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has declared his intention to petition the Inspector General of Police over an attack allegedly carried out by thugs of the opposition Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in his community in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The minister made this known in a post his shared on his X account on Sunday. Keyamo said the incident occurred on Friday, 18th September, 2026, when the alleged thugs invaded the community, destroying billboards erected by Tompolo’s door-to-door Campaign Organisation and looting shops .
According to the minister, the thugs, who were said to be armed with dangerous weapons, stormed people’s shops and carted away goods, while law enforcement agents allegedly in their payroll looked on.
Keyamo said the video evidence of the attack was clear and overwhelming, adding that more evidence was still being compiled.
His comment followed a viral video shared on social media by popular comedian, MC Aproko, who accused the NDC, including closed allies of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of direct involvement in the violence.
He lamented what he described as the double standards of a section of the press and so-called human rights groups, noting that if the attack had been carried out against the All Progressives Congress (APC), the narrative would have been different.
“If it had been the other way round against the APC, the section of the biased press and so-called human rights groups would have been screaming to high heavens, but since this happened, everywhere is mute,” he said .
“This is the exact point I made when I openly condemned the blockade of Peter Obi’s entourage from entering Benue State. But what happened in Benue is nothing compared to this. The double standards everywhere is sickening.”
Keyamo, who described himself as the foremost political leader in the community, vowed not to let the matter slide, warning against any form of self-help.
“I have warned everyone not to resort to self-help. I will be submitting a petition to the Inspector-General of Police this week to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring all those found wanting to book, even against APC leaders, if anyone crossed the line,” he said .
The minister also called for disciplinary action against the law enforcement agents who were allegedly in the midst of the thugs and condoned the looting and destruction of properties.
“Disciplinary action should also be taken against those law enforcement agents in their midst that condoned the looting and destruction of properties,” he added .
Keyamo concluded by saying that he and his supporters were prepared for a protracted battle for justice.
“Some of us are now ready for the long haul,” he declared.
