Popular celebrity socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, announcing a firm alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The nightlife entrepreneur made the declaration via his Instagram, framing the move as a “strategically smart” decision to gain direct access to the centre of federal power.
Explaining his choice to join the APC amidst significant opposition sentiment in parts of the South-East, Cubana Chief Priest stated that effective advocacy, particularly for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, could not be achieved from outside government.
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG renewed hope”, he stated.
The declaration clarifies his political trajectory, addressing his visible support for the Labour Party’s Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential elections.
He noted that at the time, he was serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, but his allegiance has now decisively shifted.
“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he said, pledging loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership.
Cubana Chief Priest described his political ambition as a conscious transition from social media influence to tangible political participation. He argued that the South-East region requires younger, influential figures embedded within the ruling system to effectively negotiate and advance its interests at the national level.
