The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, CON, has extended “warmest congratulations” to retired General Christopher Gwabin Musa on his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s next Minister of Defence.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Governor Sani described the nomination as a “well-deserved” honour and a “profound vote of confidence” in the former Chief of Defence Staff’s character, competence, and devotion to duty.
The Governor, speaking on behalf of the Kaduna State Government and its people, expressed sincere gratitude to President Tinubu for the gesture.
He noted that the nomination was not only a recognition of General Musa as an outstanding officer but also a special honour to the people of Kaduna State, who hold the retired General in the highest esteem.
“Once again, Mr. President has shown that he recognises and rewards excellence. His nomination of General Musa reaffirms his resolve to strengthen our national security architecture at a time when the nation has declared a state of emergency on insecurity,” Governor Sani stated.
Drawing from their close collaboration on security matters in Kaduna State since May 2023, Governor Sani gave a personal endorsement of the nominee, declaring the appointment “timely and extraordinarily apt.”
“It is, in every sense, a round peg in a round hole. As Chief of Defence Staff, he brought uncommon discipline, strategic clarity, and humane leadership to the Armed Forces. His quiet courage, deep professionalism, and unwavering patriotism rekindled operational synergy and restored public confidence in our military”, Sani asserted.
Governor Sani highlighted General Musa’s direct impact on Kaduna State’s security landscape, crediting him as a “steadfast ally” in the quest to secure every community.
“His wise counsel, measured interventions, and firm support were instrumental in stabilising areas once troubled by banditry and insurgent activity,” the Governor revealed. “The modest yet significant gains we have recorded in security bear his enduring imprint.”
Concluding his statement, Governor Uba Sani urged the Senate to accord the distinguished officer an expedited screening and approval process, stating that “Our nation stands to benefit immensely from his experience, clarity of purpose, and unwavering patriotism.”
The Governor’s message ended with a personal note: “Congratulations, General Christopher Gwabin Musa. Nigeria salutes your service. Kaduna celebrates your ascent. And history, no doubt, will remember you kindly.”
