Enugu Air will begin flying passengers directly between Lagos and London Gatwick this December, after the state-owned carrier obtained the regulatory clearance needed to launch the route.
Travellers can already reserve seats, with the airline’s online booking platform now accepting reservations ahead of the December 2026 debut.
The airline announced the approval in a statement, framing it as a leap forward in its push beyond Nigerian borders and a boost to links between Nigeria and the UK. Under the arrangement, Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA) will run the service as Enugu Air’s designated operating partner.
“This milestone reflects the bold vision and transformative leadership of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose strategic aviation agenda is positioning Enugu as an emerging gateway for international connectivity, investment, tourism and economic growth,” the statement read.
The London service follows closely on the heels of Enugu Air’s first international outing — a maiden flight to Douala, Cameroon, on 23 September 2026, just six weeks earlier.
Enugu Air took to the skies in July 2025 with three Embraer aircraft from the E170 and E190 series. It is a cornerstone of Governor Mbah’s wider blueprint for a modern, multimodal transport network designed to turn Enugu into a major aviation hub.
With Gatwick now on its route map, the carrier adds a second international destination and plants its flag in the UK market.
