The Edo State Government has announced the cancellation of its monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise previously scheduled for Saturday, 28th June 2025.
The decision was made to avoid a clash with the Nationwide Polio Immunisation Campaign, which is expected to take place on the same day.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, urged residents to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings despite the cancellation.
He said cancellation will allow health workers and volunteers unrestricted movement across the state to ensure the success of the immunisation programme.
“While the sanitation exercise will not hold as planned, we encourage all citizens to uphold good hygiene practices in their homes and communities,” he said.
The Polio Immunisation Campaign is part of a broader national effort to eradicate the disease, with health officials targeting children under five years old for vaccination.
The Edo State Government has assured the public that the next sanitation exercise will be announced in due course.
