The Edo State House of Assembly has formally confirmed a slate of eight commissioner designates, acting upon the submission of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The confirmation process was led by the House Committee on Rules, Business and Government House, whose thorough reportโcomprising eleven distinct findings and a single conclusive recommendationโwas unanimously adopted by the chamber.
In his concluding remarks, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku affirmed the fitness of the appointees, noting their status as esteemed indigenes whose qualifications aptly prepare them for the rigors of state service.
He urged them to work closely with the governor to advance the stateโs development.
โI charge the new commissioners to be proactive and work in synergy with the governor to ensure that Edo State moves forward”, he said.
Agbebaku, however, expressed concern over what he described as gender imbalance, noting that only one female was among the eight nominees.
The House thereafter cleared the nominees through a voice vote.
Those confirmed are Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi, Prince Kasim Afegbua, Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua, Felix Akhabue, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius, Ohimai Ehijimetor and Eugenia Abdallah
