The Delta State Police Command has successfully dismantled a kidnap syndicate, rescuing three abducted victims, apprehending a suspect, and recovering an AK-47 rifle following a fierce gun battle in Issele-Uku. Spear News obtained this report exclusively from the Delta State Police Command.
The breakthrough followed a report of a kidnapping received at the Issele-Uku Division on March 16, 2026. The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aderemi Badiru, immediately coordinated a search-and-rescue mission alongside the military, local vigilante groups, and hunters. Teams combed the surrounding bush, targeting suspected hideouts where the kidnappers were believed to be holding their victims.
The operation escalated into a heavy exchange of gunfire between security forces and the kidnappers. One suspect was fatally wounded, while all three victims were rescued unharmed and safely reunited with their families. Police described the operation as a testament to effective planning, rapid response, and cooperation between security agencies and community stakeholders.
During follow-up searches, officers arrested Ahmadu Hassan, a 22-year-old male from Kange Village, Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Hassan sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation and is now under police custody. Security operatives also recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.
The Delta State Police confirmed that the deceased kidnapper has been deposited in a mortuary, while the injured suspect is receiving medical care. Investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers, as well as the collaboration with military personnel and local security networks. He reiterated the Commandās commitment to rooting out criminal networks in the state and urged residents to provide timely and credible information to aid security efforts.
The Delta State Police assured the public that operations targeting kidnappers and other violent criminals will continue without pause, emphasizing that protecting citizens and ensuring their safety remains a top priority.
