Abuja – The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), has stated that his appointment to the nation’s security helm came by divine intervention after conspirators believed they had succeeded in thwarting him.
Musa made the statement on Sunday while sharing a testimony of faith at the Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja. According to the minister, there was a period when adversaries plotted against him, but their perceived victory was overturned by God’s intervention.
“We give God the glory for what has happened this year. Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up. In their small mind they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar you will win”, Musa told the congregation.
The defence minister, who attended the service with his wife, described the church’s founder, Bishop David Abioye, as a close ally.
Musa urged Nigerians not to lose hope, emphasizing that challenges are necessary for growth and national strength.
“If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life. As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty. Nigerians are winners. We must continue to pray for our leaders and our country,” he said.
He also cautioned against persistent negative narratives about Nigeria, warning that constantly talking down the country does not reflect goodwill.
President Bola Tinubu nominated Musa, the immediate-past Chief of Defence Staff, as Defence Minister on December 2. The nomination followed the resignation of the former minister, Mohammed Badaru, on health grounds.
Musa was sworn into office two days later. In his new role, he is tasked with leading Nigeria’s defence strategy and strengthening the nation’s security framework.
