The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the West African Examinations Council have fixed N4,000 as the fee for the verification of candidates’ West African Senior School Certificate Examination results.
The two examination bodies, in a joint statement on Tuesday, said candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions would pay the fee only once through the JAMB verification platform.
Under the new arrangement, the outcome of the verification would be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.
The statement clarified that tertiary institutions would not be permitted to demand additional verification fees from candidates whose results have already been verified through the JAMB platform.
“Candidates are to pay N4,000 only, once, for the verification of their WASSCE O’Level results on the specified platform and not through their desired institutions,” the statement read.
The development followed the introduction of a system that enables candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results remotely, eliminating the need for repeated visits to JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test centres.
WAEC has authorised JAMB to share the outcome of the verification with relevant tertiary institutions for admission screening and other administrative purposes.
The two bodies said the arrangement would reduce the financial and logistical burden on candidates, particularly those applying to multiple institutions.
JAMB and WAEC urged candidates to complete the verification process once through the designated platform, assuring them that the verified result would be utilised by relevant institutions.
