The Court of Appeal has upheld a high court order invalidating the Rivers APC ward, local government, and state congresses that brought Tony Okocha and his team as exco said to be allies of Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister.
Spear News Nigeria recalls that Okocha had challenged the appellate court against the ex parte order of the High Court, which stopped the ruling APC from conducting its congresses in the state.
Okocha said the High Court had no jurisdiction in the matter and, as such, was not empowered to make the said order.
Yet, the Appeal Court, in its ruling delivered by Justice Elfreida Williams-Dawodu JCA, affirmed the jurisdiction of the High Court in issuing that order and threw out the appeal for want of competence.
But the Publicity Secretary of the Tony Okocha-led exco, Ikenga Chibike, has assured party members that there is no threat to the status of the exco pending the full trial of the matter.
However, Ikenga said the party lawyers will study the full judgment and advise on the next action.
