The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the just-concluded by-elections across the nation serve as a clear and unmistakable referendum on the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement released on Sunday, the party’s spokesman, Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo, asserted that the “resounding victories” recorded by APC candidates in Rivers and Kano States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirm the electorate’s confidence in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“At a time when detractors and opposition elements have sought to misrepresent the direction of the country, the people have spoken decisively through the ballot. These results demonstrate that Nigerians recognize bold leadership, economic reforms, infrastructural expansion, and institutional strengthening when they see them”, the statement read.
The ruling party described the outcome as a firm democratic verdict against an opposition it characterised as “uninspiring and unworthy of serious consideration.”
According to the APC, the results represent the “final straw on the back of an opposition” that has allegedly resorted to “rhetoric, sensationalism, and obstruction” rather than offering credible alternatives.
In a pointed critique of the opposition’s strategy, the Lagos APC suggested that dominance on social media is an over-rated vehicle for political activism. The party argued that the “amplified noise” across digital platforms did not translate into electoral penetration or public acceptance.
“Democracy is ultimately decided by voters, not virtual trends,” Oladejo stated. “It will take far more than day-dreaming, online theatrics, or manufactured outrage to unseat a well-grounded and performance-driven ruling party.”
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the APC expressed strong optimism, suggesting that the momentum from these by-elections signals a clear path to victory. “If morning truly shows the day, then the forthcoming 2027 national elections may well be a walk in the park for the ruling APC, on the strength of its performance and the implicit confidence reposed in it by the Nigerian people,” the statement added.
The party also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the elections and praised security agencies for their professionalism in maintaining peace throughout the process.
Reiterating its commitment to delivering democratic dividends, the Lagos APC called on all Nigerians, including members of the opposition, to unite behind the collective task of nation-building.
