The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approached the Supreme Court, seeking to restrain the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from holding its planned national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30.
The development follows a fresh legal move by the Turaki-led PDP faction on Friday, as it filed an appeal challenging the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the ruling that nullified the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
The faction argued in its appeal that both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over the matter, describing the earlier decisions as flawed and calling for their reversal.
The legal tussle further deepens the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP, as rival factions continue to battle over control of the party’s structure and leadership ahead of key political activities.
