The re-election hopes of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, hit a dramatic hurdle on Sunday after he angrily walked out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening hall in Abuja.
According to Daily Trust, while other incumbent governors were screened on Saturday, Fubara was conspicuously absent, eventually arriving at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge at about 3 pm on Sunday .
However, the governor stormed out of the screening room after only 20 minutes, with his demeanor visibly changed. In a stark contrast to protocol where committee members traditionally escort governors, Fubara was left to leave on his own; the committee members reportedly left the room six minutes after his departure .
When accosted by waiting journalists asking how the exercise went, a visibly distressed Fubara simply said, “No comment” .
This development comes amid his ongoing feud with his estranged political godfather, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike .
