The Bauchi State Sports Council has appointed the State Accountant General, Mohammed Sirajo Jaja, as the new Chairman of the Bauchi State Para Athletics Association.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated March 4, 2026, signed by the Director of the Bauchi State Sports Council, Alhaji Ado Tanko.
According to the council, the appointment was based on Jaja’s merit, long-standing commitment, and significant contributions to sports development in Bauchi State, particularly in the promotion of para athletics.
While congratulating the new chairman, Ado Tanko expressed confidence that Jaja would justify the trust placed in him by the council and contribute to elevating Bauchi State’s performance in para athletics at both national and international competitions.
Responding to the appointment in an interview with journalists in his office, Jaja expressed appreciation to the management of the Bauchi State Sports Council for finding him worthy of the role.
He said his appointment did not come as a surprise, noting his long-standing passion and involvement in the development of para athletics.
“For many years, I have been looking for the opportunity to contribute more meaningfully to sports development, especially in para athletics, which is my area of interest. Now that the opportunity has come, I will not take it for granted,” he said.
Jaja added that his leadership would align with the vision of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration to empower youths through sports and create opportunities for them to achieve meaningful futures.
He assured that his administration would prioritize the welfare of athletes and coaches while creating an enabling environment for para athletes to thrive.
Jaja further expressed optimism that the Bauchi State Para Athletics Association would soon become one of the leading associations in Nigeria, helping to strengthen the state’s reputation as a hub for sports development.
“My leadership will focus on improving the welfare of athletes and coaches while sustaining the association’s achievements and reputation,” he added.
