Bauchi State on Saturday joined the global community in commemorating World Tourism Day 2025 with renewed commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and celebrating the stateโs growing reputation as Nigeriaโs leading eco-tourism hub.
The Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC), under the leadership of its Managing Director and State Conservator General, Dr. Nasiru Muhammad Yusuf, highlighted ongoing efforts to transform the sector in line with this yearโs theme: โTourism and Sustainable Transformation.โ
World Tourism Day, marked annually on September 27, commemorates the adoption of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Statutes in 1970. The day underscores tourismโs role in cultural exchange, economic growth, and international understanding. This yearโs global event was hosted in Melaka, Malaysia.
In a statement to mark the occasion, BSTDC commended the deliberate interventions made in Bauchi, including massive investments in road infrastructure linking key sites such as Yankari Game Reserve, Sumu Wildlife Park, and the Emirโs Palace. Other initiatives include improved social amenities, upgraded hospitality facilities, and strengthened security architecture around tourist corridors.
According to Dr. Yusuf, these measures have boosted visitor confidence, attracted private sector investment, and created jobs for local communities.
โBauchi stands tall as a shining example of how tourism fosters unity, strengthens cultural heritage, and drives inclusive development,โ the BSTDC noted, while calling on stakeholders across public, private, and community sectors to sustain the momentum.
The corporation reaffirmed Bauchiโs readiness to welcome the world with its captivating landscapes, vibrant traditions, and warm hospitality, positioning tourism as a catalyst for peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth.
