The Bauchi State Government has announced the creation of three new directorates in the Ministry of Lands and Survey as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery and enhance efficiency in land administration.
The new directorates include Inspectorate, Valuation, and Internal Registry, which will serve as specialized arms of the ministry to ensure proper regulation, fair land valuation, and effective record-keeping in the state, that will be bringing an expanded structure to the ministry.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Lands in the ministry, Sanusi Abdullahi, described the creation of the new directorates as a welcome step that will reposition the ministry for better performance.
According to him, the directorates will not only help in streamlining operations but also ensure accountability and transparency in land management.
“This development is timely because it will address some of the long-standing challenges in land administration, such as proper record keeping, effective monitoring, and fair valuation of properties. With the new directorates, the ministry will be able to respond more effectively to the needs of the public,” he said.
The Director added that the Inspectorate Directorate will be responsible for monitoring compliance with land use regulations, while the Valuation Directorate will handle assessment of land and property values for both government and private purposes.
The Internal Registry Directorate, he noted, will strengthen documentation and records management to reduce disputes and promote easy access to land information.
He commended Governor Bala Mohammed, the Head of Service and the Commissioner of Lands, for approving the restructuring and assured that staff of the ministry are committed to delivering on the government’s vision of efficient land administration in the state.
In his remarks, the Head of the Inspectorate, Umar Saleh Misau said the development was in line with Governor Bala Mohammed’s vision to modernize land management and make the ministry more responsive to public needs.
“The creation of these directorates will help sanitize the land sector by ensuring proper monitoring, fair assessment of land and property values, and safe custody of records. This reform will not only improve service delivery but also boost the state’s internally generated revenue,” Misau stated.
