A coalition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pro-Tinubu support groups in Bauchi State has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national leadership to ensure that the outcome of the recently conducted state congress is respected.
Speaking at a press briefing in Bauchi on Monday, the coalition said it was worried about what it described as attempts by some stakeholders to overturn the will of party members. According to the group, the congress produced new officials, including Alhaji Mustapha Zirami as state secretary and Hon. Yakubu Muhammed as organising secretary.
The coalition, which said it represents more than 70 support groups across the state, also presented what it described as a certified true copy of the congress results. It insisted that the exercise was properly conducted and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
The group appealed directly to President Tinubu, describing him as the leader of the party, to intervene and ensure that the results of the congress are not altered. It warned that any attempt to tamper with the outcome could weaken the party’s growing support in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the coalition, the congress was carried out in line with the party’s constitution and relevant electoral laws, and it urged the national leadership of the APC to move ahead with the inauguration of the newly elected state executive committee.
The group also stressed that respecting the results would help strengthen unity within the party and sustain the momentum the APC is building in Bauchi State.
