The Nigerian Army has intensified its nationwide security operations, achieving significant successes between September 4 and 6, 2025. In a series of coordinated counter-terrorism and anti-criminality missions across multiple states, troops neutralised two terrorists, arrested seven suspected criminals, and recovered weapons, stolen vehicles, and illicit materials.
The operations, which demonstrated the military’s tactical precision and intelligence-driven approach, targeted terrorist strongholds and criminal networks in Borno, Adamawa, Zamfara, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a decisive engagement in Borno State, troops of 192 Battalion and the Hybrid Force clashed with Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)/JAS terrorists near Kwatara Kasa Village along the Gwoza–Limankara Road. The operation resulted in one terrorist neutralised, with others fleeing into the Mandara Mountains.
Zamfara State witnessed a critical intelligence breakthrough as 1 Brigade troops, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested a female logistics supplier with links to notorious terrorist kingpin Ado Aliero. The suspect, apprehended in Tsafe LGA, was found in possession of a mobile phone, ₦37,000 cash, and other items, and admitted to also peddling drugs.
Plateau State operations yielded particularly significant results as troops from Operation ENDURING PEACE arrested a terrorist informant in Dadin Kowa. During interrogation, the suspect led troops to a weapons cache in Mista Ali Village, Bassa LGA. The suspect attempted to escape during the recovery operation and was neutralised. Troops successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles from the hideout and continue pursuit of the suspect’s accomplices.
Additional successes included the interception of two suspected petroleum smugglers in Adamawa State with 19 jerrycans of petroleum products, and the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the Federal Capital Territory. In the FCT operation, troops tracked and arrested three suspects at a Gwagwalada hotel, recovering the stolen vehicle, 11 mobile phones, and ₦29,700 cash before handing over the suspects to police.
Army authorities stated these coordinated actions reflect the military’s unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, curbing criminal activities, and recovering illicit arms. The operations form part of broader efforts to create a safer environment that supports agricultural activities and enhances national food security initiatives.
