A high-powered delegation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday paid a strategic visit to Bauchi State following growing speculation about Governor Bala Mohammed’s potential defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The delegation, which also included Kano State Governor Kabiru Abba Yusuf, proceeded directly to the Government House in Bauchi, where they held a closed-door meeting with Governor Mohammed.
Also present at the meeting were top state officials, including the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Suleiman; the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo; the Chief of Staff; and several members of the National Assembly.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not officially disclosed, political observers believe it may be connected to ongoing reports that Governor Mohammed is considering leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC.
The meeting lasted for about an hour and ended without any formal briefing, as members of the visiting delegation declined to speak with journalists. They departed immediately afterward for the airport, heading to Abuja.
Efforts to obtain comments from Governor Mohammed were unsuccessful, as he also chose not to address the media.
Meanwhile, attention has shifted to Thursday, April 2, when the governor is widely expected to clarify his political stance and announce his next move.
