The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki has officially approved former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential flagbearer come 2027 general election.
Spear News Nigeria gathered that Jonathan did not attend the event, which many believe was a mere political decoy.
Reliable Sources told Spear News Nigeria that the ratification was effected on Saturday in Abuja at a very brief ceremony that lasted about 15 minutes.
Also, the motion for ratification was moved by the chairman of the faction’s Forum of State Chairmen, Mr Tony Aziegbemi and was seconded by a one-time former Aviation Minister, Senator Sanusi Daggash.
The ceremony, Spear News Nigeria Insider sources said was presided over by Turaki, and conducted at a different locations from the A Class Garden earlier declared by the faction.
But neither Turaki nor members of his factional National Working Committee (NWC) made any speech during the brief ceremony.
However, political pundits have explained divergent views over Jonathan’s candidacy in relation to the divided state of PDP structures across the nation.
