The Zaar Traditional Council of Chiefs has condemned the recent spate of violence that claimed the life of a farmer and left three youths injured in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
In a press statement issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, and signed by its Secretary, Timothy M. Bitson, on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Gungzaar-elect Ishaku Komo (Rtd.), the Council described the incidents as “horrific and brutal,” citing the killing of Mr. Irmiya Yohanna on his farm in Bogoro LGA and an attack in Tafawa Balewa LGA that left three victims hospitalized.
“The Gung Zaar Council, as the supreme traditional voice of our people, unequivocally condemns these senseless acts of violence. An injury to one Zaar son or daughter is indeed an injury to us all,” the statement read.
While sympathizing with the bereaved family and other victims, the Gungzaar-elect urged traditional chiefs, elders, and youths across the kingdom to remain steadfast as “ambassadors of peace,” avoid retaliatory actions, and cooperate with security agencies.
The Council further appealed to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, to partner directly with traditional authorities in addressing the insecurity in Zaar land, stressing that “security is a shared responsibility.” It also cautioned stakeholders against politicizing issues of security and peace, insisting that “the sanctity of life transcends political divides.”
Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence, the Council pledged to continue engaging Fulani leaders and neighboring communities in dialogue to restore harmony and stability across the Zaar Kingdom.
“May peace and justice prevail in the Zaar Kingdom and Bauchi State at large,” the statement concluded.
