The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that Plateau State is positioned to deliver more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday at an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Federal Constituency held in Pankshin, Yilwatda asserted that the party is now considerably stronger in the state than it was during the 2023 polls, following the collapse of major opposition structures.
“All the stumbling blocks we had in 2023 are no longer there. Those who opposed us then have joined us now,” he stated, specifically mentioning Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, commissioners, local government chairmen, and other appointees who have since aligned with the APC.
Yilwatda described the PKK constituency as the party’s traditional stronghold, noting that Tinubu won two of its three local governments in 2023. He expressed confidence that the APC would secure every ward and polling unit in the area next time.
“Politics is a game of numbers, and our target is over one million votes,” he declared, framing the upcoming election as “a movement without friction.”
The APC chairman also pledged to halt public criticism of Governor Mutfwang, saying that internal access now allows for direct engagement. “I will no longer criticise from outside. Now I have access. If the government gets it wrong, I can pick up the phone, visit the governor and discuss how to do better.”
Addressing concerns from long-standing members about new entrants, Yilwatda assured that the party would remain inclusive. “Nobody is coming to take over this party. There are many rooms and many chairs.”
The meeting was attended by key party figures including Senator Diket Plang, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, and Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker Na’anlong Daniel, all of whom pledged support for Tinubu, Mutfwang, and the APC’s 2027 ambitions.
