A heated social media altercation has erupted between Rufai Oseni, an Arise TV’s Morning Show anchor, and Lere Olayinka, the Media Aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The war of words centers on serious allegations of irregular land allocations in Abuja, pulling back the curtain on a simmering political scandal.
The conflict was ignited by reports by People’s Gazette, an online newspaper, that the FCT Minister had allocated prime plots of land, purportedly worth over N200 million, to his own children for a mere N2 million.
As a key figure in the minister’s media team, Olayinka found himself in the direct line of fire.
The exchange began on Saturday when Rufai Oseni publicly challenged Olayinka to break his silence on the allegations. On his social media platform, Oseni stated, “Since the revelation of the land allocation story by the FCT minister his media aide has been quiet. I challenge his media handlers to come react to the story. I am ready to give them a platform.”
Oseni escalated his criticism, accusing Olayinka of a pattern of deflection. He posted, “As usual when I ask the media aide of the FCT minister to react to allegations of land allocation in Abuja he deflects. Kindly ask him what is he afraid of, is his tongues [sic]… Lere where is your tongue, respond to the allegations and defend your boss. It’s crystal clear you have no defense! The facts are there, kindly respond.”
In reaction to Rufai’s challenge, Olayinka launched a personal attack against the journalist. He retorted: “I don’t react to someone who should be in Arise News, producing documentary on animals. Besides, which platform will you give me? Are you the owner of Arise News?”
This dismissive response prompted a final rebuttal from Oseni, who refocused the conversation on the core issue.
He replied: “I thought you will kindly speak to the allegations rather than deflect. The world is watching. React to these allegations and give a position to the issues.”
