Former United States President Barack Obama has rallied Georgia voters ahead of the midterm elections, telling them the times demand serious representation in Washington.
In a post on his social media handle, Obama said: “These are serious times—and we need serious people representing us in Washington, DC and in states across the country.”
He urged Georgia voters to turn out for Keisha Lance Bottoms, the gubernatorial candidate, and to send Jon Ossoff back to the U.S. Senate.
“Georgia, I hope you’re fired up and ready to vote for Keisha Lance Bottoms for Governor and send Jon Ossoff back to the U.S. Senate. Jon and Keisha will fight for you, and they’ve got real plans to build a better Georgia,” he said.
Obama also asked voters to mobilise their families and friends. “Reach out to your family and friends and encourage them to vote. Let’s get it done!”
The appeal came as Obama campaigned across battleground states in the final stretch of the midterms.
On Saturday, October 24, he was in Cleveland with Sherrod Brown and in Detroit with Abdul El-Sayed. On Wednesday, October 28, he rallied in Morrow, Georgia, with Ossoff and Bottoms.
