The Obidient Movement in the North Central zone has issued a strong warning to individuals or groups allegedly threatening the safety of their principal and former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The group declaring that the era of treating such attacks with silence is over.
The warning was issued at a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, where the group cautioned against any further violent actions or threats against Obi, vowing to respond with decisive force if provoked.
Addressing journalists, the leadership of the North Central Obidients revealed that they had conducted an extensive investigation into recent events in Edo State, which they described as a “dastardly act” against their members and principal. They claimed to have identified those responsible, their motivations, and their planned next steps.
“We have taken our time to investigate what happened in Edo State, what led to it, those behind the dastardly act, their subsequent threats, and what is likely their next move. That is why we did not rush out with a statement immediately,” the group stated.
Armed with what they called “knowledge and intel,” the group issued a stark warning to those they accused of trying to destabilize the country by targeting Obi.
“We, the members of the Obedient Movement of the North Central Zone, wish to sound this note of warning to those who have taken it upon themselves to make sure they turn this country into another Somalia by unnecessarily provoking the peace-loving millions of Obedient Movement members worldwide by threatening or attacking the person of our principal, H.E. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi,” the statement read.
“We Know Your Rat Holes”
In a particularly pointed section of their address, the group asserted that they possess detailed intelligence on their detractors.
“We also want to let those bent on intimidating and cowering the rest of us through violence know that we know all of you, your paymasters, and even your rat holes where you are hiding,” they warned.
While reaffirming their commitment to peaceful means, the Obidients made it clear that their patience has limits. Distancing themselves from being characterized as political thugs, they described themselves as “men and women of great means, upwardly mobile, and with a great sense of responsibility.”
However, they issued a chilling warning about their capacity for retaliation if attacked.
“We have decided to stop the rape of our country by conscienceless and wicked individuals masquerading as leaders by any means possible. We will achieve this through every peaceful means.
But if and when we are pushed to the wall, we can assure those doing the pushing that we will never look for a way of escape by trying to break the wall and continue running like lily-livered men and women. Instead, we will definitely pay the cowards in their own coin because Nigeria belongs to all of us.”
Drawing an international parallel, the North Central Obidients expressed confidence in Obi’s political future and personal safety, comparing his situation to that of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Be it known to you all wishing PO death that just as Trump survived every attack during his campaigns and went ahead to win the presidential election with an unprecedented landslide victory… so shall Peter Gregory Obi outlive all of you and he will go ahead and win the 2027 presidential election with a landslide victory and successfully carry out the mission of rescuing Nigeria.”
The group framed Obi’s political project as a divine mission. “That is what the God Most High called him to do and that purpose must be fulfilled,” they added.
The press conference served as a broadside against the current administration and political opponents, whom the group accused of using their positions to intimidate the opposition. They insisted that such tactics would fail in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“So those who think they can use their present positions in power to intimidate, oppress or silence the opposition must have a rethink because it will never work for them this time,” the group declared.
Concluding their address on a note of unwavering loyalty, the North Central Obidients reiterated their steadfast support for their leader. “The vision is clear and the mission is settled. We the Obidents believe strongly in the personality, credibility and ideology of Mr. Peter Obi, and we will continue to stand by him; stand with him; and stand for him until our New Nigeria mission is accomplished.”
The conference ended with the group’s signature rallying cry: “A NEW NIGERIA IS POSSIBLE.”
