In a successful counter-offensive, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralised sixteen Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and confiscated a major stockpile of their logistical supplies in Borno State.
The military operation was launched in response to a failed ISWAP attack on a Forward Operating Base in Auno on February 5.

On February 9, OPHK forces, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), pursued the terrorists, engaging them along the Komala axis in Konduga Local Government Area. The firefight, which extended to Gidan Kaji, resulted in the death of 16 terrorists, with many more reportedly fleeing with serious injuries.
A key achievement was the severe disruption of the group’s supply chain. Troops recovered over twenty bicycles and a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other critical materials.
In a related operation the same day targeting the terror group’s logistics, security forces arrested suspected ISWAP suppliers in the Bukarti axis. They were intercepted while transporting a large consignment of drugs intended for terrorist use.
The military also recorded major successes in protecting civilians on February 9. Troops thwarted a kidnap attempt along the Buratai-Kamuya road, forcing the assailants to abandon their captives.
The two victims, identified as Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, were rescued and safely returned to their families in Buratai.
In a separate incident, troops responding to a distress call along the Chibok-Damboa axis successfully rescued nine other kidnapped individuals.
