President Bola Tinubu has hailed the Super Falcons following their dramatic 2-3 comeback victory over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, describing their performance as “the very essence of the Nigerian spirit.”

Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), the President celebrated Nigeria’s record-extending 10th continental title, secured against a determined Moroccan side playing before a roaring home crowd in Rabat.
“The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight, coming from behind to defeat a spirited Moroccan team, exemplifies the determination that defines who we are as Nigerians.
“With hard work, dedication and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the entire nation dreamed of and prayed for”, the President stated.
The President’s message highlighted how the team’s resilience mirrored Nigeria’s collective character, overcoming early setbacks to ultimately triumph.
He particularly praised the players for showcasing “the never-say-die attitude that makes our country great.”
“The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions home.
Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you”, the statement concluded.
The historic win cements Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football, with the Falcons now holding twice as many WAFCON titles as any other nation.
