President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No.4) Bill, 2025 into law, giving Ministries, Departments and Agencies three more months to complete capital projects under the 2025 budget.
The implementation period, which was due to lapse on September 30, 2026, now runs until December 31, 2026.
The amendment was passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and assented to by the President the following day.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the extension would allow ongoing capital projects to be completed and ensure that appropriated funds are fully deployed without disrupting critical programmes.
Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for what he described as their prompt consideration of the bill, calling it a further sign of cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature.
With the new deadline, MDAs have until December 31, 2026 to conclude projects funded under the 2025 appropriation.
