A tragic lightning strike has claimed the life of a young herder and at least 12 cows in Southern Kaduna.
The incident, which occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday, took place in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District of Moro’a Chiefdom, located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking on the development, the Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed that the deceased herder had sought shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the lightning struck, leading to their instant death.
“It was a devastating incident that has left the entire community in shock,” Ayuba stated.
Also confirming the incident, the Ardo of Bondon District, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, revealed that the deceased was originally from Bauchi State. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged community members to offer prayers and support to the bereaved family.
The herder has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites, while the incident continues to generate grief and sympathy among residents of the area.
