Senator Ned Nwoko has made an emotional public appeal regarding his wife Regina’s welfare, revealing she was hospitalised unconscious from a drug overdose and claiming her recovery is being systematically undermined by those closest to her.
The statement from the Senator’s office came after confidential medical documents concerning Regina Nwoko began circulating online. While acknowledging their authenticity, Senator Nwoko sought to redirect attention from the documents’ leak to their alarming contents.
In a statement published on his social media handle on Saturday, the Senator said, “The rehabilitation centre only clarified that it did not publish or circulate the documents, which is expected because medical institutions must protect client confidentiality. They did not deny authoring the reports; their concern is the leak itself.”
The medical evidence presents a consistent picture of critical health risks. According to the Senator, both toxicology and hospital reports confirm “the presence of the same substances, all at levels that pose serious health risks: Marijuana, Cocaine, Morphine, Opiates at extremely elevated levels, and Alcohol at a critically dangerous level.”
Most disturbing is the revelation from a Nizamiya Hospital report dated 3rd October, which details that Regina “was brought into the hospital unconscious from a drug overdose.” Senator Nwoko described these findings as “documented, consistent, and deeply alarming.”
The Senator’s statement takes aim at what he characterises as active sabotage of rehabilitation efforts by Regina’s own family.
He claimed medical reports describe “persistent interference from her siblings,” who allegedly “openly stated that they do not see anything wrong in giving her alcohol and weed even while she was undergoing rehabilitation.”
Their actions, heasserted, “made effective treatment impossible and remain one of the major reasons she has not been able to complete rehabilitation.
She needs help, not enablers”, he pleaded.
Senator Nwoko explained his very public approach as a last resort after his personal efforts failed. “Given the severity of the substances detected and the documented hospital emergency where she arrived unconscious, it is no longer an issue that can be handled quietly,” the statement read.
He therefore asked: “Must we wait until Regina reaches a point of irreversible harm before we support her, encourage her to stop substance abuse, and help her commit to rehabilitation?”
The appeal frames the crisis in deeply personal terms, emphasising Regina’s role as a mother to their two young sons. The Senator’s persistence, the statement notes, “reflects a man who wants Regina to recover, to be safe, to be clear minded, and to be present for her two young sons.”
The statement followed weeks of escalating tension between the couple, playing out across social media platforms where Regina has made various allegations against the Senator.
The Senator’s office concludes with a clear message: “The reports are authentic. The hospitals and rehabilitation centres did not leak them. The findings speak for themselves. Regina needs consistent treatment, support, and protection. Not denial, not interference, and not enabling.”
