Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the lawmaker representing Ogun West, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, has facilitated the construction of a new Information and Communication Technology centre at Orita Community High School, Oja Odan, in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The centre, equipped with 60 desktop computers complete with chairs and tables, also houses a 30KVA generator, a 15KVA solar inverter, air conditioning units and other utilities, according to a statement made available to journalists.

The project is the latest in a series of education interventions by the senator, popularly known as Yayi, whose record in the sector includes 18 fully equipped ICT centres, furniture supplied to 35 schools, and over 200,000 textbooks and school bags distributed across 128 schools. He has also facilitated the construction of 87 classroom blocks comprising more than 300 classrooms and 56 staff rooms.

In July 2026, the senator disbursed N1.061 billion in scholarships and bursaries to 5,312 students in tertiary institutions across Ogun State, bringing the cumulative number of beneficiaries under the scheme to over 10,000 within three years. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun Joint Campus Council commended the initiative, describing it as a remarkable investment in education and the future of Nigerian youths.

Beyond education, Adeola’s empowerment footprint extends across trade, agriculture and infrastructure. Under the “Oloja Yayi” Market Support Fund, the fifth edition of which was held from July 29 to 31, 2026, N750 million in non-refundable grants was disbursed to 10,000 traders across Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West, with each beneficiary receiving N75,000. The programme, organised in partnership with the National Productivity Centre, began in February 2023 with N25,000 grants to 5,000 traders and has since expanded in both reach and value.

The senator has also facilitated 43 modern markets and ancillary projects across Ogun West in three and a half years, alongside 10 solar-powered boreholes in markets and solar street lights in 20 major markets, each with at least 20 poles. Two ultra-modern markets are currently under construction at Isaga-Orile in Abeokuta North and Panseke in Abeokuta South.

In infrastructure, roads including Bisi Popoola Street in Ayetoro, Obaladi Palace Road in Afon, Gasline Road in Ijoko and Temidire Road in Sango Ota have been facilitated by the senator. Primary health centres have been built in Ebute Igboro, Ijaka Oke, Atapele, Atan and Sango Ota, while police stations were facilitated in Ayetoro and Idiroko.

As the APC governorship candidate for 2027, Adeola won the party’s primary in May 2026 with 304,055 votes, defeating his sole rival, Abayomi Hunye, who scored zero. Governor Dapo Abiodun described the primary as the state’s first transparent, rancour-free governorship primary in 50 years.

The APC candidate has unveiled a nine-point agenda tagged “ITESIWAJU,” covering education, healthcare, women and youth empowerment, sports, tourism, agriculture, security and new town development. He pledged to tackle youth unemployment by engaging industries operating in Ogun State to create employment opportunities for qualified indigenes, and to establish a State Security Trust Fund to strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies.

For Oja Odan, the new ICT centre represents a concrete addition to a school system where access to digital tools remains limited. For Adeola, the APC governorship candidate, it is one more entry in a record he has consistently presented as evidence of his capacity to deliver beyond rhetoric.
The senator has said his motivation stems from a vision of education as a liberating force. “Without proper education, I doubt I would have attained the position of a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said at the July scholarship ceremony in Abeokuta.
