Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the representative for Nasarawa West, has announced his resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with immediate effect.
The resignation was declared in a letter dated today, addressed to the Chairman of the SDP in Tudun Kofa Ward, Keffi Local Government Area.
In his brief notification, the senator expressed gratitude for his time with the party, stating he was “grateful for the experiences and relationship built.” However, he stated that his decision was driven by a sense of compulsion due to the “lingering litigations within the party.”
These internal legal disputes are understood to have created significant instability within the party’s structure in the state, prompting the high-profile defection.
Senator Wadada, who also holds the traditional title of Sarkin Yakin Keffi, did not indicate his future political plans within the resignation letter. The move will leave him sitting as an independent senator in the upper legislative chamber unless he announces an affiliation with a new party.
