The news of a ‘serving’ Senator from Katsina State resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC), stirred controversy over the weekend.
Spear News can report that the current Senator representing (Katsina-Central), Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, has not resigned from the APC or defected to another party.
However, Senator Sadiq Yar’Adua, a former senator from the same state, did resign from the APC.
The two are different individuals, though both hail from the popular Yar’Adua Quarters in Katsina State.
Abdulaziz, a younger brother to the late President Umar Yar’Adua and the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, retired from the Nigerian Army as a Colonel.
He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Army and remains a member of the APC.
Sadiq Yar’Adua on the other hand is not related to the former.
He previously served as a senator and was no longer a sitting senator as of the time he resigned from the APC on August 3, 2025.
