Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has announced the imminent arrival of the Ratel political party while providing an update on a secondary school project under construction in Ahoada, Rivers State.
In a video shared online on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan took viewers around the facility, displaying classrooms with tiled floors, doors, walls, a school clinic, football field, and perimeter fencing.
He said only minor finishing touches remained before the project would be completed and insisted that substandard materials were not used during construction.
The activist said about ₦190 million had been spent on the project so far, adding that the expenditure was well documented and accounted for. He credited Nigerian music star Burna Boy with supporting the project, noting that the musician had pledged to fund the rebuilding of the school after a teenage girl, Ogadinma Minnie, exposed the community school’s poor condition on social media earlier this year.
VeryDarkMan said Burna Boy’s face would be designed on a section of the school, with lighting added to the structure.
“Very soon, the Ratel political party is coming, so be ready to vote for us because there’s no government project that is better than what we’ve done here and that’s why you must vote for us,” he declared.
Defending the project, VeryDarkMan challenged the government to present a public school that could match the standard of the facility, saying the project demonstrated what could be achieved when funds were properly managed. He stressed his belief in transparency and integrity.
Meanwhile, questions have emerged over the amount spent on the project after VeryDarkMan had earlier stated that ₦290 million was expended before later adjusting the figure to ₦190 million.
Critics have since asked which figure should be believed, though the activist has insisted that every naira spent on the project would be accounted for, adding that the remaining work would soon be completed.
