In a move underscoring a commitment to national inclusion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new management team for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), ensuring representation across six geo-political zones.
A statement issued on Friday by Mr. Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information & Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced the new appointments.
According to the statement, Mr. Rotimi Pedro from the South-West geopolitical zone has been appointed as the new Director-General of the NTA.
The President also approved the appointment of three new Executive Directors to complete the management team:
· Executive Director, Marketing: Karimah Bello (North-West)
· Executive Director, News: Stella Din Jacob (North-Central)
· Managing Director, NTA Enterprises Limited: Sophia Essahmed (North-East)
The statement further revealed that President Tinubu has tasked the newly constituted team with the critical assignment of repositioning and revitalizing the national broadcaster.
The President charged the appointees to work as a cohesive unit, infusing innovation and fresh ideas into the Agency to ensure effective and improved service delivery to the Nigerian people.
This strategic overhaul of the NTA’s leadership is widely seen as a step towards modernizing the broadcaster and enhancing its role as a pivotal news and information source for the nation. The appointments take immediate effect.
