President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of four new members to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The new appointees include Mr. Olusegun Omosehin representing the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Engr. Wole Ogunsanya from the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), Mazi Sam Azoka Onyechi of the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum (NCCF), and Barrister Owei Oyanbo representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. These appointments fill existing vacancies on the council following the departure of previous members.
The NCDMB Governing Council, established under Section 69 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act of 2010, plays a critical role in overseeing local content implementation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
President Tinubu, through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, charged the new members to bring their expertise to bear in advancing the board’s mandate of promoting Nigerian content and developing indigenous capacity in the petroleum industry.
The President emphasized the importance of strict compliance with local content requirements and the need to strengthen local participation across the entire oil and gas value chain. The newly appointed council members are expected to commence their duties immediately, contributing to the NCDMB’s mission of monitoring and enforcing Nigerian content provisions while fostering the growth of domestic capabilities in the sector.
