The Jigawa State Police Command has called on residents to remain alert and proactive in supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities. The appeal came on Tuesday from the State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, while addressing journalists during the parade of several criminal suspects arrested across the state.
According to the CP, the command’s recent operations have led to the arrest of armed robbery suspects, motorcycle and phone snatchers, and individuals involved in theft, who had been troubling residents in Hadejia, Dutse, and Roni local government areas. Items recovered during the operations include three motorcycles, two handsets, and a knife, which police identified as exhibits linked to the suspects’ crimes.
Muhammad stressed that the successes recorded were the result of coordinated, intelligence-led strategies, noting that the command has intensified its crackdown on criminal elements across Jigawa. “We will continue our relentless efforts to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in every part of this state,” he assured.
He praised the officers and men of the command for their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to duty in the face of ongoing security challenges. The CP also reaffirmed the police’s determination to sustain the tempo of operations against criminals, adding that the suspects in custody would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
While acknowledging the role of law enforcement, the police boss emphasized that community support remains critical. He urged citizens not to overlook suspicious movements or strange individuals in their neighborhoods but to promptly notify the nearest security agency for swift action.
The development reflects the command’s continuing effort to reassure residents of its presence and capacity to combat crime. As Jigawa faces challenges ranging from robbery to petty theft and rural banditry, the call for vigilance highlights the shared responsibility between security agencies and the public in safeguarding communities.
