Lagos, August 29, 2025. The Lagos State Police Command has successfully restored peace in the Onosa Community of Elemoro following a shooting incident that erupted during a routine patrol in the early hours of the day, the Command reported through its Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In a detailed statement, Pro Adejobi explained that six police officers from the Elemoro Division, while executing standard patrol procedures, were confronted by an irate mob. To ensure personal and public safety, the officers discharged their firearms, injuring three individuals. The wounded were promptly taken to a hospital and are receiving medical attention.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, personally led a tactical detachment to the scene, where he oversaw the clearing of barricades and facilitated the reopening of traffic routes into the community. His intervention was pivotal in restoring calm and order.
At the scene, CP Jimoh engaged directly with youth representatives and community leaders, aiming to defuse tensions and build understanding. “He extended an invitation to these leaders for continued dialogue to address concerns and prevent future occurrences,” Adejobi’s statement noted.
Furthermore, Adejobi confirmed that the officers involved in the shooting have been taken into custody as part of a “thorough and transparent inquiry” to determine the circumstances and accountability of the incident.
He assured residents that “normalcy has been restored to the area,” and emphasized that a strong police presence remains to sustain safety and peace. Residents were urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and refrain from actions that could endanger public safety.
Adejobi concluded by reaffirming the Command’s commitment to justice: “Justice will be served. Let us remain calm and law-abiding. Ìrẹ́ o.”
