The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered a stolen Honda Hennessy vehicle and arrested three suspects linked to its alleged theft and subsequent sale.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the breakthrough followed a report by a 53-year-old resident of Danjuma Goje Street, Bauchi, who reported that his black Honda Hennessy, a 2000 model, had been stolen in March 2026.
The vehicle owner formally lodged the complaint with the police on June 8, 2026, prompting operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division Township to launch an intelligence-driven investigation.
The police said sustained surveillance and coordinated efforts led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle along Gombe Road in Bauchi on the same day.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects allegedly connected to the theft and transfer of ownership of the vehicle.
The suspects were identified as 58-year-old Sani Saidu of Madaki Street, said to be the first buyer; 54-year-old Shuaibu Fagarau of Kofar Idi, identified as the second buyer; and 46-year-old Samaila Abdullahi, also of Kofar Idi area of Bauchi.
Police authorities disclosed that all three suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators. The recovered vehicle has been secured as an exhibit pending the completion of investigations.
The Command noted that the latest recovery marks the third stolen vehicle successfully recovered by operatives of the ‘A’ Division within the last month, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism, dedication and swift response.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and assured that the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner also advised vehicle owners to strengthen security measures by installing tracking devices and maintaining proper vehicle documentation to facilitate recovery in the event of theft.
