The police Command in Bauchi State have arrested a 44 year old dismissed army personnel with a stolen vehicle, in Jama’are Local government area of the State.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, disclosed this on Thursday, August 21, 2025, during a press briefing at the State Police Headquarters, Yandoka Road, Bauchi.
He explained that at about 1400 hours, detectives attached to Jama’are Divisional Police Headquarters led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Maina Yusuf apprehended Stanley Lukman, a 44-year-old male of No. 106 Ibiom Street, Awka, Anambra State. Stanley Lukman, was a dismissed Army personnel, who was arrested driving a Volkswagen Vento saloon vehicle without a license plate number, claiming to have purchased it from the Niger Republic. His arrest followed the recovery of a suspected stolen Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Golf motor vehicle from Umar Aliyu, who alleged he had acquired the vehicle from Stanley Lukman.
During interrogation, the principal suspect (Stanley Lukman), confessed to the theft of the recovered vehicles, stating that he lured a temporary hired driver, Mu’azu Yunusa โmโ of Unguwan Nasarawa, Yobe State, where he absconded with the car en-route from Yobe State to Jos Plateau State.
He said the Command under his leadership has rrested a total of 748 suspects linked to various crimes across the state, which he described as a major breakthrough in the fight against criminality.
โThe period under review has presented considerable challenges; nonetheless, the tenacity, dedication, and commitment of our officers have been instrumental in sustaining relative peace within the State,โ Aliyu stated.
He added that the Commandโs achievements reflect the guidance and directives of the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
According to the CP, the Command recorded 394 cases within the period, which led to the arrests of hundreds of suspects across different categories of crimes.
Breakdown of arrests:
Armed Robbery: 57 cases, 113 suspects
Culpable Homicide: 78 cases, 171 suspects
Attempted Culpable Homicide: 14 cases, 24 suspects
Grievous Hurt: 7 cases, 16 suspects
Rape and Indecent Assault: 44 cases, 72 suspects
Kidnapping: 4 cases, 7 suspects
Theft/Stealing: 20 cases, 37 suspects
False Pretense/Cheating: 117 cases, 106 suspects
Mischief by Fire: 2 cases, 3 suspects
Forgery of Currency Notes: 2 cases, 2 suspects
Breach of Public Peace: 9 cases, 29 suspects
Unnatural Offences: 2 cases, 2 suspects
Other cases: 30 cases, 54 suspects (20 charged to court, 10 under investigation, 6 convictions secured with 10 suspects)
Since assuming duty as the 46th Commissioner of Police in Bauchi, Aliyu said the Command has remained steadfast in combating crime through professionalism, intelligence-led operations, and proactive policing strategies.
