The Kaduna State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading a viral report by Diaspora Digital Media alleging the abduction of 150 to 200 persons along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
In an official statement issued on Thursday by the state Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, anipr, the Command described the claim as entirely baseless, stressing that no such incident has occurred on the route in the past two years.
The Command emphasised that security agencies, including the Police, Military, and Department of State Services (DSS), maintain round-the-clock surveillance and patrols on the highway to ensure the safety of travellers.
“This report is entirely fabricated and without any basis in fact”, the statement.
“To set the record straight, there has been no recorded incident of kidnapping along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway in the past two years. The area remains under constant surveillance and is regularly patrolled on 24hrs basis by the Police, Military, Dss and other security forces under tight security to ensure the safety of all commuters” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police issued a stern warning against the spread of unverified reports, noting that such misinformation could incite undue panic and undermine public confidence. He emphasised that individuals or media outlets found responsible for fabricating or disseminating false security alerts would face investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police reassured the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property while urging citizens to rely only on official sources for security updates.
