The Plateau Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning has issued 6,116 certificates of occupancy and 6,846 rights of occupancy to landowners in the last three years.
Peter Gai, the commissioner in the ministry, disclosed this during a press conference on Thursday in Jos.
Mr Gai said that the number surpassed the record set over the eight years of the previous administration.
He explained that the recorded figure was made possible by the innovations, resilience, and commitment of the ministry’s staff to excellence.
“In the last three years of this administration, we have issued 6,116 CofOs. The previous administration issued a little over 8,000 in eight years.
“In the area of RofO, we have processed and issued 6,846 as against the 3,995 issued by the last administration,” Mr Gai said.
The commissioner said further that 500 more CofOs had been processed and were awaiting the governor’s signature.
He added that the ministry would continue to deliver on the mandate of the current administration by providing quality service to people in the state.
