Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) operating under Operation DESERT SANITY have neutralized three terrorists and rescued two kidnapped victims in coordinated offensives across the North East theatre, military authorities announced on Friday.
In separate engagements along the Valle, Ashigashiya, and Gakara areas, troops made contact with Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, unleashing superior firepower that left two insurgents dead. A third terrorist was neutralized along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, where troops also recovered a radio set and a mobile phone. No military casualties were reported.
The rescued victims include an 8-year-old boy, Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community. Troops operating along the NgosheโAmuda corridor found him, and after medical evaluation, he was reunited with his family.
The second victim, 20-year-old Dahiru Ahamdu, a Fulani herder, was rescued near Uvaha, a deserted village along the GwozaโLimankara axis. He told troops that he escaped his captors after intense artillery bombardments by OPHK struck terrorist camps, killing two insurgents and sowing panic. Ahamdu had been abducted on May 8, 2026, while grazing cattle in Adamawa State’s Madagali Local Government Area and was held in a hideout within the Mandara Mountains. Community leaders helped facilitate his reunion with family.
In the Magza general area near Buni Gari, troops acting on intelligence recovered a cache of explosives abandoned by fleeing terrorists: four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb, and four 60mm mortar bombs. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams secured the items.
Among those arrested was Kuti Muhammad, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), suspected of collaborating with terrorist elements. He remains in custody for further questioning.
Separately, troops responded to an armed robbery in Garin Gwigwi village, Biu Local Government Area, arresting Aliyu Mamadu, Umar Mohammed, and Adamu Aliyu. Recovered items included mobile phones, illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quran booklet, and a locally made firearm. A stolen Dane gun was also recovered and returned to its owner.
In another operation, troops working with local hunters arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market, seizing six rustled cattle.
The Military High Command praised the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to maintain momentum. Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North East.
