Former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has poured encomiums on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on the occasion of her 66th birthday, describing her as a woman of quiet strength and remarkable courage.
In a statement released from her media office in Abuja, Onyejeocha said the First Lady’s life has been marked by a deep commitment to service, compassion, and care for the less privileged.
She explained that her tribute was not driven by the office Senator Tinubu occupies, but by how she has chosen to use it.
“We celebrate her not because of the title she carries, but because of what she has chosen to do with it. She has chosen to serve. She has chosen to care for those the society often forgets,” the statement quoted her as saying.
The former Deputy Whip of the House of Representatives highlighted the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that it has touched the lives of widows, empowered women, supported children, and advanced better health and education for the underprivileged.
She added that Senator Tinubu carries out these efforts not for public applause, “but because it is who she is.”
Speaking on the First Lady’s role as mother of the nation, Onyejeocha said she has remained a calming and reassuring presence amid the country’s challenges, giving hope to the vulnerable and a voice to the voiceless.
“That is the courage of a mother. The kind that does not run away when things are hard. The kind that stands, keeps standing, and keeps giving, even when no one is clapping,” she said.
Onyejeocha further described the First Lady as a shining example of the courageous Nigerian woman — one who builds, nurtures, and never abandons her people — noting that at 66, she continues to inspire through her resilience and enduring faith in Nigeria’s promise.
She concluded by extending birthday wishes on behalf of her family and constituents.
“On behalf of my family and the good people of my constituency, I wish Her Excellency many more years of good health, joy, and peace. May God continue to strengthen her as she serves our nation and our people.
“Happy Birthday, Your Excellency. You are truly a mother of the nation.”
