Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated three new governing councils. They are the Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission, the Edo State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and the Governing Council of Edo University, Iyamho.
The ceremony took place at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, the Governor urged the members to serve with dedication. He reminded them that the task ahead is enormous.
“My administration carefully selected you to help move Edo State forward. We expect you to contribute meaningfully to our growth and development,” he said.
Addressing the Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission, the Governor said they must drive needed reforms. He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver.
To the Commission for Persons with Disabilities, led by Mr. Theophilus Egbodion, Governor Okpebholo assured them of full inclusion.
“This government does not discriminate. We are one people working for the progress of Edo State. Your condition is not your fault. You are not disabled in mind, and your requests will be considered,” he said.
For the Governing Council of Edo University, Iyamho, led by Prof. Olusegun Akinyinka, the Governor stressed that their appointment was deliberate.
“We selected people of proven character. We believe your experience will lift the university to new heights,” he added.
Governor Okpebholo charged all members to perform their duties in line with the law.
Responding, the three chairmen thanked the Governor for the opportunity. They promised to support his administration and work for the progress of the state.
