Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has emphasized the need for nations to embrace global integration, stating that no country can achieve meaningful development in isolation.
Obasanjo made the remark on Wednesday while commissioning the newly constructed Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre in Bauchi State.
He described the edifice as a landmark achievement that would provide Bauchi with a gateway to international engagement and economic growth.
“The Conference Centre will serve as a platform for Bauchi to interact with the world, attract investors, create jobs, and boost the local economy,” the former president said. “It will also enhance Bauchi’s visibility on the global map, positioning the state as a hub for dialogue, innovation, and investment in Northern Nigeria.”
Obasanjo commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his visionary leadership and commitment to infrastructure development, noting that such initiatives were essential for sustainable progress.
In his remarks, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed appreciation to the former president for honoring the state with his presence and support.
He said the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre symbolizes his administration’s drive to transform Bauchi into a regional center for intellectual exchange, tourism, and socioeconomic advancement.
“The facility is a testament to our vision of building a modern Bauchi—one that fosters innovation, learning, and global partnership,” the governor stated. “It will serve as a multipurpose venue for academic conferences, business summits, and cultural exhibitions.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing projects that promote education, tourism, and inclusive development across the state.
